The California Highway Patrol (CHP) 11-99 Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization founded in 1982 by visionary civic leader, Bob Weinberg. The CHP 11-99 Foundation provides emergency benefits to current, retired and Fallen in the Line of Duty CHP employees and their families in times of crisis. “11-99” is the radio code used by CHP officers and dispatchers, meaning “officer needs assistance.”
Since its inception, the CHP 11-99 Foundation has distributed over $31million in assistance to CHP employees and their families. Each year, over 1,000 students apply to and are awarded post-secondary educational scholarship funding to help them realize their academic dreams. The scholarship program fund has awarded more than $25 million and is available to sons and daughters of active or retired CHP employees, as well as children and spouses of Fallen Officers.
The important work of the Foundation is enabled through the generosity of tens of thousands of individual donors and volunteers and by institutional grant funding. Our lifetime members and donors are the heartbeat of the 11-99 Foundation and are sincerely and strongly committed to helping us reach out and assist the men and women of the California Highway Patrol. By donating today or applying for membership to the CHP 11-99 Foundation, you have the opportunity to make a direct and tangible difference in the lives of the men and women who work tirelessly to maintain the safety of all Californians.
