The California Highway Patrol (CHP) 11-99 Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization founded in 1982 by visionary civic leader, Bob Weinberg. The CHP 11-99 Foundation provides emergency benefits to current, retired and Fallen in the Line of Duty CHP employees and their families in times of crisis. “11-99” is the radio code used by CHP officers and dispatchers, meaning “officer needs assistance.”
Since its inception, the CHP 11-99 Foundation has distributed over $31million in assistance to CHP employees and their families. Each year, over 1,000 students apply to and are awarded post-secondary educational scholarship funding to help them realize their academic dreams.
